Carson Bonner is Vice President, Capital Solutions at Ownly and a member of the firm’s Concierge team, where he works directly with business owners, founders, and executive teams across the lower middle market. He is responsible for identifying opportunities for growth and connecting established companies with capital solutions suited to their goals. Before joining Ownly, Carson spent more than four years at Backd Business Funding, where he rose from Partnership Account Manager to Director and then Vice President of Partnerships. He led the team of account managers overseeing Backd’s broker and affiliate relationships, built a new partnerships sales team to grow volume, and negotiated agreements with the company’s affiliate banking partners. As an account manager, he grew revenue 35% across his partner portfolio, and as Director he drove a 15% revenue increase in three months. Carson began his career at General Motors, where he held account management roles in Texas and Iowa, working with dealerships to grow loan and lease volume. Carson’s approach combines financial insight, strategic thinking, and a relationship-driven philosophy. He starts with each company’s own vision and long-term objectives, so that the capital serves the business and the people behind it. He believes success is measured not only by financial achievement, but by the value created, the people impacted, and the legacy left behind. Carson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Texas Tech University, where he co-authored a piece on West Texas energy resilience published in Texas Monthly. He served nearly four years on the Board of Directors of the Forever Strong Children’s Foundation.

In Carson's words

“The lower middle market is where business is still personal. These owners have built something real, often over decades, and they deserve a capital partner who takes the time to understand what they’ve built and where they want to take it. Getting to be that partner is the best part of my job.”
